False lashes are seeing a HUGE comeback and are actually the fastest growing sector in the beauty industry (tons of new companies, lots more choices).
Anyone involved in the beauty industry in L.A. wears these on a daily basis. As well, the popularity of makeup blogs, YouTube and Instagram has sparked a heavy interest in makeup. Layered styles are the most popular as it is more realistic despite the dramatic length and volume!
Recently, I was fortunate enough to speak with Brenda Ton, Co-Founder and Director of Public Relations at ESQIDO Lashes. Brenda shared with me her top tips on how you can easily apply lashes at home and how to pick the perfect lashes for your eye shape.
What are the different types of lashes?
There are many different types of false eyelashes on the market. The majority of the lashes you can find are machine-made from plastic (synthetic) or coarse human hair. They don’t look natural, difficult to apply and a challenge to tame with a stiff plastic band. Look for natural-looking, soft and most importantly, comfortable lashes with a flexible cotton band.
Who can use lashes?
Anyone! Whether you are an avid “Lashonista” or a first-timer, there will be at least one style that will work for your eyes. Some people who use lashes are cancer survivors and those with alopecia. Everyone can benefit from false eyelashes because they look like natural eyelashes.
Why would you use lashes?
Lashes can make such a difference to your look. They’re perfect any day to enhance your natural beauty and can add a magical confidence boost too.
What are the top tips for applying lashes?
My best tip for first-timers would be to have the mirror on the table so you’re looking down. It’s the perfect position for lash application because your eyes are relaxed and you can see exactly where you need to place the lash.
Another good tip is when your lashes are on, is to use tweezers and gently press your natural and the false eyelashes together so they form one layer of lashes instead of two.
How to pick the best shape of lashes for your eye type?
Choosing lashes can be tricky with all the different styles available. If you notice you have eyes that tend to point downward towards the outer corners, try a lash that flares out (short on the inner part and longer towards the outer ends). This wing-out style will give a nice illusion of a lift for your eyes.

How to care for your lashes?
Since the lashes are on your eyes, it is important to be gentle around that area. We recommend using a cotton swab dipped in oil-free eye makeup remover and dabbing it on the band area to dissolve the lash glue.
Continue doing so until the lashes come off the eyes effortlessly without any peeling or tugging. Wipe the excess glue off the band and place them back into the box to keep your pretty lashes dust-free.
Any other tips?
It’s helpful to wait a few seconds for the glue to become tacky before you apply your lashes to prevent glue from getting all over your eyes. Practice makes perfect, and you might even figure out new ways to make application easier for yourself.
Have fun with the lashes! Try new eyeshadow colours and textures to really make them pop! Adding that extra colour can really make your lashes stand out.
Please feel free to share your tips and ideas on lashes, I would love to hear from you.
Let’s have the very best year ever!
