Kids Fly Free On Helijet! Fun Kids Activities in Vancouver!

There are plenty of fun things for families to experience in Vancouver. So turn your family vacation into a great one with these fun attractions in Vancouver.

Lighthouse Park

Families interested in hiking should check out Lighthouse Park in West Vancouver. This is one of the few places in the area immediately surrounding Vancouver that was never completely logged, making it an easily accessible virgin temperate rainforest habitat.

The park provides numerous paths for hiking, and most require just an hour or two of your time. If you want to plan a picnic, there are tables and restrooms in the park to accommodate longer visits. The park is also a great place for bird watching with more than 60 different species known to frequent the area. The lighthouse is located at Point Atkinson and features a beacon that has been in operation since 1875.

Skyride Surf Adventure

In summer, Grouse Mountain offers the Skyride Surf Adventure. Feel the wind on your face as you travel 1,610m on the rooftop of the Grouse Mountain Super Skyride! You will be part of a small group accessing this special viewing platform. Your Guide will give a short but informative interpretive overview of the mechanical structure of the Skyride and will identify key landmarks and facts as you peer toward either the Coast Mountains or the Lower Mainland.

Kids Market at Granville Island

As a kid-sized version of Granville Island’s public market, the Kids Market is one of Vancouver’s top family destinations. Housed in a former paint factory and packed with more than two dozen different shops selling toys and gifts, one-of-a-kind games, candy, books and creative crafts, it’s sure to have something your kids can’t live without.

But it’s also a place for kids to have fun as they get rambunctious in the many play areas. The Adventure Zone is a two-story, indoor jungle gym with tunnels, ladders and a ball room. Outside, families can enjoy a picnic on the patio or explore the 50-year-old Canadian Pacific caboose.

Speeders Electric ProKarts

Speeders is the only electric go kart with published speeds up to 75kms/hr! They have had electric powered karts for 21 years. Eco-Friendly, their ProKarts produce zero emissions, which means clean racing. Your clothes don’t smell of gas and you’re not breathing in fumes.

Their racing track is indoors and they provide helmets with visors and freshly laundered head socks for free. They also provide a training before your first time around the track and safe environment for every racer in the family. Kids love this race track!

Exciting fun for the whole family. All drivers must be at least 5’1″ and max 300lbs. to safely operate our ProKarts. They have plenty of games for anyone younger to play including; NBA basketball, foosball and a 4 player air hockey table!

Stanley Park

While there are plenty of great attractions in Stanley Park, there are also lots of free ways for families to have fun in the park. During summer, the obvious place to start is the Kids’ Free Summer Fun Centre, where the young ones can enjoy arts and crafts, games and organized sports. Take a stroll along the sea wall to check out the public art, playgrounds and the awesome free water park. Or explore some of the easy trails that criss-cross the park and stop in at the Stanley Park Nature House to learn about the birds, animals and plants that call the park home.

Lynn Canyon Park and Ecology Centre

This outdoor destination is the perfect place for a little learning disguised as family fun. Home to 250 hectares (616 acres) of rainforest habitat, a suspension bridge 20 stories above the canyon floor and loads of natural sites, it’s a fascinating introduction to Vancouver’s natural setting. If you’re here in the summer, your kids can swim in the crystal-clear waters of a natural pool. There’s also a gorgeous waterfall in the park, which makes the perfect backdrop for a souvenir family photo. The Ecology Centre offers hands-on plants and animal displays, films in a small theatre, puppets to play with and piles of toys. Take advantage of public programs and events designed with kids in mind, many of which are free or require a small donation.

Fisherman’s Wharf Top Five Victoria Family Activities

Top Five Victoria Family Activities

Whether you’re young or young at heart, Victoria and Vancouver Island have plenty of fun things to see and do. From parks and museums to zoos and outdoor recreation, there’s something for kids of all ages.

Ocean waters, long sandy beaches, rainforests and wide open spaces await exploration. Children can get up close and personal with local marine life, bugs, butterflies and farm animals at Victoria’s unique gardens and zoos. There are many museums that share the city’s incredibly diverse history with hands-on displays and activities for learners.

A quick top five for the whole family:

  • Take a Harbour Ferry to Fisherman’s Wharf to see the seals.

  • Be bold: See all the insect and spider species, including Canada’s largest ant farm, at Victoria Bug Zoo (and hold a millipede if you dare!).

Boston Pizza – Kids Love The Food!

One of our favourite food rituals is to visit a Boston Pizza in Victoria and Vancouver. The pizzas are great and another part of their menu that I love is the nutritional information on their website. If you decide to make a healthier option they provide “Smart Eats. .

Another real crowd pleaser at Boston Pizza is the Pannookie (a giant, freshly baked, pizza pan chocolate chip cookie served with vanilla ice cream and drizzled with a chocolate and caramel sauce). Delicious!
